Heuvel was born in Kimberley. She spent most of her time growing up in Swakopmund – Namibia and Cape Town – South Africa.

She has set herself on a lifelong journey to learn about the principles of Faith and Fear. There is a real world that we cannot see with our eyes, the Supernatural World. The AGU series is an imagined world based on reality of the Unseen:

MARTIN HEUVEL

Creative Lead

Each and every chapter that is written has to get a “thumbs up” from Martin.
Not only does he fall perfectly into the target audience, but he has the right balance of creative vs critic that I need in order to ensure that I do not stray from the path set out.

He is painfully honest but I love that about him.
A large part of my character Arjun’s sense of humour and intelligence is based on Martin.

Sweeper

Berny admittedly has an obsession for reading every single word, and thus she catches errors and inconsistencies that the professional editor misses, thereby earning herself the nickname “sweeper”.
I would not even consider going into print if Berny hasn’t read it yet.

About the Book

The journey of The AGU started with a dream. I often dream in vividly coloured adventures. Sometimes after waking up I have a sense that the dream that I had just experienced could make for a great book or movie. 

Chapter 17 and 18, where Airlia, Arjun and Bedz find Mt. Tong’s shop, is a combination of that dream. Children being able to fliudly move from this tangible world of ours which is ruled and governed by our five senses, into the spiritual realm, where our spirits and intuition usually extends without our physical being.

Have you ever experienced a thought or a premonition, and after it comes into reality, you used these words “I have no idea how I knew” or “something just told me” or “I felt like I should go”. 

There is a whole world and space that surrounds us but we don’t flow into it, yet it often leaks into our reality. Well, shifting between these two worlds deliberately, and then being able to affect our lives from within the spiritual realm, this is the premise that The AGU is based on.
